Are you are planning to walk the Plymouth to Starcross section in South Devon?

Do you want somewhere luxurious and unique to stay en route?

Torquay makes a great base for the Kingswear to Teignmouth section of this 630 mile national trail.

This section of the path  has been divided into three parts for experienced walkers by the South West Coast Path Association:

  • Dartmouth to Brixham (17.5km);
  • Brixham to Torquay to Babbacombe (21.2km)
  • Babbacombe to Teignmouth (10.3km).

However, if you want to take it more gently you could sub-divide the route further and walk shorter distances.

Magnificent scenery

Despite going through some urban areas there is some truly magnificent scenery along this stretch of coastline. It is a mixture of easy and strenuous hiking.  There are also lots of transport links back to Torquay. These include  rail, bus and a ferry service between Brixham and Torquay from April to October.

Why not stay in this part of South Devon a bit longer and take time to explore  Dartmouth, Totnes and Brixham. We are also within reach easy of Dartmoor and National Trust properties  Coleton Fishacre and Greenway  (Agatha Christie’s holiday home). We are close to award-winning beaches, a Michelin starred restaurant and prehistoric caves.
