A great base for walking the South West Coast Path
If you are planning to walk the Plymouth to Starcross section in South Devon and want somewhere unique to stay en route, Vane Tower Penthouse makes a great base for the Kingswear to Teignmouth section of this 630 mile national trail.
For experienced walkers, this section of the path has been divided into three parts by the South West Coast Path Association: Dartmouth to Brixham (17.5km); Brixham to Torquay to Babbacombe (21.2km) and Babbacombe to Teignmouth (10.3km). However, if you want to take it more gently you could sub divide the route further and walk shorter distances.
Despite going through some urban areas (which have their own unique charms) there is some truly magnificent scenery along this stretch of coastline and a mixture of easy and strenuous hiking. There are also lots of transport links back to Torquay including rail, bus and a ferry service between Brixham and Torquay from April to October. If you are travelling to this beautiful part of the UK why not stay a bit longer and take some time to explore towns like Dartmouth, Totnes and Brixham. We are also within reach easy of Dartmoor and National Trust properties Coleton Fishacre and Greenway (Agatha Christie’s holiday home) as well as award-winning beaches, a Michelin starred restaurant and prehistoric caves.
