Vane Tower stands on top of a hill which looks down on Torquay’s marina and is a short walk from restaurants, bars, shops and award-winning beaches. This 22-mile stretch of coastline has been christened the English Riviera because the unique microclimate and geography feel like a little piece of the Mediterranean on English shores. Palm trees thrive and the nearby hills are covered with evergreen oaks giving year-round greenery. Grey seals and dolphins that are regular visitors to this part of the world. If you don’t feel like driving there are plenty of things to do nearby – visit the penguins and otters at Living Coasts, take the Western Lady ferry from Torquay to the beautiful fishing village of Brixham, hike along the South West Coast path or walk down the hill and relax on a nearby beach. Within a short drive is the exquisite town of Dartmouth and also the stunning National Trust properties Coleton Fishacre and Greenway, the holiday home of Agatha Christie. Dartmoor can be seen from the tower on a clear day and the historic cities of Exeter and Plymouth are all within easy reach as are picturesque Dartmouth and Salcombe.
